Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools will be getting new facilities for an Early Childhood Center and for outdoor athletics and activities.
Voters in the school district approved both bond referendum questions Feb. 11.
Question 1 asked voters if they would approve of $37.2 million bond for a new Early Childhood Center to replace the nearly 100-year-old Hillside Early Childhood Center in Sauk Rapids. The new facility will be located near Sauk Rapids-Rice High School in Sauk Rapids.
The question passed with 1,815 “yes” votes to 1,266 “no.”
Question 2 asked voters if they would approve a $17.7 million outdoor activities complex. The facility will be located on current practice fields adjacent to SRRHS. It would include a stadium for football, soccer and lacrosse teams along with a new track and field facility. The entire complex will consist of artificial turf.
The question passed with 1,661 “yes” votes to 1,416 “no.”
Results are unofficial until certified.
Bradley D. Bergstrom, superintendent of SRR Public Schools, said both facilities are scheduled to open in fall 2027.
