Alberta Merlyn Balder, age 93, of Dayton, passed away Nov. 7, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Alberta ‘Bertie’ left the Foley farm to work in the Twin Cities. She started in a retail catalog order department and moved on to become a private secretary. She married Jim Balder in 1956 and retired to have five children. She returned to work in 1976 as a receptionist and retired in 1995.
Alberta is survived by her two daughters, Cindy and Rene; three sons, Jim (Becky), Tim (Tammy) and Rick (Karen); nine grandchildren, Jamie, Dan, Jake, Ruth, Tom, Brandy, Mike, Zach and Kyle; and two great-grandchildren, Dorothy and Freja.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesaday, Nov. 18, at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Road in New Hope, MN 55428.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Raphael’s Church, 7301 Bass Lake Road in New Hope.
